Online registration is now open for Six Senses Phuket Raceweek 2008 - anticipated to be the best Raceweek yet - offering a reduced entry fee for early registrations. Phuket’s ‘Green Season’ regatta, now in its fifth year, sees a mixed fleet of yachts race in the southwest monsoon breezes off Phuket’s south coast every July, this year from 23-27 July.
While retaining the same one-regatta-one-venue format, combining four days of competitive racing with five nights of grand waterside parties - a format that has met with unanimous approval from competitors - this year’s event brings a host of new dimensions.

Thai Airways International has adjusted its fuel surcharge on its international and domestic flights. The adjustment in fuel surcharge will partly aid in balancing out increased fuel costs during the recent period, which has also been implemented by other airlines worldwide.
The company has adjusted its fuel surcharge for international and domestic flights, that is calculated on all classes of passenger travel on THAI flights and air tickets issued by THAI’s sales and ticketing offices worldwide, which is based on the policy agreed upon by the Civil Aviation Department for commercial airlines and includes agreements with other countries, as follows:

The SALA Phuket Resort and Spa has been selected as one of just a handful of new hotels and resorts worldwide to be featured in the prestigious Condé Nast Traveler “Hot List” 2008.

The Calcutta Cricket & Football Club (CCFC) produced a sixes masterclass at Karon Stadium on Sunday as all opposition was ruthlessly swept aside in the Bengali quest for the Cup on Finals Day of the Phuket International Cricket Sixes.
First in the Calcutta firing line, in the first match of the day, were the Liquid Lounge Lizards from Phuket with each team vying for a place in the Cup semi finals. Needing a win and at least 82 runs to qualify for the semis on run rate, a Calcutta blitzkrieg ensued as the Lizards bowlers were blasted to all parts of the ground with the CCFC posting 112 the highest total of the tournament at that time. The Lizards gave the chase their best shot in reply but fell well short of the target.

The Laguna Phuket Golf Club has been awarded an IGOLF Laureate Course Status by the International Golf and Life Foundation (IGOLF). This accolade is given to select golf courses around the world which show a dedicated commitment to environmental and social responsibility. The addition of the Laguna Phuket Golf Club brings the number of IGOLF Laureate courses in Thailand to five, three of which are in Phuket.
The International Golf and Life Foundation (IGOLF) is a not-for-profit organization registered in Bern, Switzerland. IGOLF’s mission is to establish norms of excellence based on environmental and social responsibility for golf courses around the world, working with golfers, resort and golf course operators, golf industry partners, media, governments, academic institutions and non-governmental organizations.
The IGOLF Laureate Status was awarded to the Laguna Phuket Golf Club at a ceremony held at the Club on 4 April 2008. Also receiving certificates were the Loch Palm Golf Club and Red Mountain Golf Course.
